Brillo is equal parts family, long-term renovation partners, and regional leaders in design and quality. Founded in 1977 by three friends, the company is now led by Mike, the son of one of the founders, and his business partner Jim, who has been with us for over a decade. Mike J. Bovee
Owner & Production Manager
Mike, who joined Brillo in 1999, has a lifetime of experience in remodeling, following in the footsteps of his father, a Brillo founder. As our Production Manager, he shares his extensive construction knowledge, guiding and mentoring the team. Outside of work, Mike trains in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu with his son, coaches his daughter’s soccer team, and enjoys cooking and outdoor activities with his wife, Melissa, their children and dogs.
Jim Zaja
Owner & Sales Manager
With nearly three decades in construction, Jim joined Brillo in 2011 as a Lead Carpenter and has since become key to our team. Transitioning to a sales role in 2018, he now leads our sales department with expertise and dedication. An avid outdoorsman, Jim enjoys hunting, fishing, and boating with his wife and two daughters. In his spare time, he loves spending time Up North and tackling his own home improvement projects.
Melissa Bovee
Creative Director & Designer
Melissa has been a part of the Brillo team since 2006, evolving from interior designer to overseeing the company’s creative direction, including the Design Department and marketing. Her passion for design is matched by her love for yoga, photography, and enjoying the outdoors with her husband, Mike, and their family. Melissa’s blend of creativity and leadership make her key in shaping Brillo’s vision and success.
Alicia Dernetz
Office Manager
Alicia, our Office Manager, hails from Upper Michigan and embodies the warmth of the Midwest. With three children of her own, she treasures time with her family and loves to travel. Since 2016, she has felt right at home at Brillo, considering us all a part of her family. Her dedication, exceptional organizational skills, and genuine connection with the team make her an integral part of our company.
Joe Jennaro
Sales
Joe brings a warm, down-to-earth approach to our sales team. His talent for building genuine connections helps him understand and meet our clients’ remodeling needs with exceptional care. Outside of work, Joe enjoys camping with his family and cooking up a storm for large gatherings. His dedication to quality and personal touch make him a standout asset to our team.
Amanda Dowdy
Design Coordinator
Since joining Brillo in 2021, Amanda has been the backbone of our project organization, ensuring everything runs smoothly and efficiently. Her willingness to assist wherever needed highlights her dedication and collaborative spirit. Outside of work, Amanda loves watching her son play hockey, traveling, and playing with her lovable dog, Maddie. She also enjoys quality time with family and friends.
Pat Bovee

Pat joined Brillo in 2010, working alongside his dad and brother. He values the close-knit, family atmosphere and the dependable support from his work family. With a lifetime of experience in the construction business, Pat ensures projects run smoothly. Outside of work, he enjoys watching and playing various sports and spending time up north with his family.
Matt Guenther

Matt, who grew up working in construction with his dad in the Milwaukee area, has always been passionate about the field. Joining Brillo in 2016, he enjoys seeing projects through from start to finish. In his free time, he enjoys watching and playing sports and spending quality time with his wife and three children.
Todd Schroeder
Lead Carpenter
With nearly 20 years in the remodeling industry, Todd has been a key member of the Brillo team for almost as long. He takes pride in turning clients’ visions into reality through careful planning and expert craftsmanship. Outside of work, Todd enjoys golfing, playing Cribbage and spending time Up North with his family and friends.
Jake D’Ambrosia

Jake has been an integral part of the Brillo team since 2018, known for his exceptional attention to detail and craftsmanship. Hailing from Northern Michigan, Jake combines his love for the outdoors with his skillful touch as a craftsman. Though he may be reserved, his work speaks volumes, consistently transforming spaces with beauty and precision.
Matt Scriver

Matt joined Brillo in 2019 and is passionate about the ever-evolving challenges carpentry offers. He values the opportunity to learn and tackle new tasks every day. When he’s not at work, Matt immerses himself in outdoor activities, from fishing and hunting to camping and loves spending time with his growing familly.
Colton Hogrefe
Carpenter
Colton, a Wauwatosa native, joined Brillo in 2021 and has quickly embraced the team’s friendly atmosphere and the opportunity to learn new skills. He’s enthusiastic about the challenges and growth he experiences on the job. Outside of work, Colton enjoys trap shooting, working on his truck and spending time outside with his two energetic dogs, Bill and Diesel.

A Mequon native, Colin joined Brillo with a solid background in construction. He is known for his consistency and eagerness to learn, making him a reliable and growing asset to our team. Outside of work, Colin enjoys spending time with his family, playing hockey, and going to the gym.
